Race 6 Best 8 530m The winner of this 5 Nitro Blackey event was locked away for a Urine Sample to be obtained later in the evening under the random ballot swab policy. Race 7 5th Grade 530m 1 Iluka Jocelyn jumped smartly and led all the way. 9 Bomber Fifty Two checked 4 Ready To Puzzle, 6 Spooky, and 10 Cool Aussie first turn causing 9 Bomber Fifty Two and 6 Spooky to race wide and hamper 8 Billy The Bullet and 5 Goodlooking Miss. 4 Ready To Puzzle checked 8 Billy The Bullet approaching turn into back straight causing both greyhounds to lose ground. Veterinary examination of 2 Go Funky revealed no apparent injury. Stewards interviewed the trainer of 2 Go Funky regarding the greyhounds actions approaching the first turn. After viewing the video replay of this event the steward informed connections of 2 Go Funky that they believed the greyhound eased approaching the first turn and lost ground sharply. Connections agreed with stewards observations. After considering all of the evidence stewards decided to issue the greyhound with a ticket for ‘failing to pursue the lure’ in accordance with CGRR96(2). As this is the greyhounds first offence it is suspended from racing at Canberra for a period of 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial in accordance with CGRR 102.
