INCIDENTS RACE 1 CANBERRA MOWER SERVICES MAIDEN 310M Incidents: DAPER MICKIE (2) dwelt at the start losing valuable ground. CORNIA (8) was slow to begin. In the run to the first turn, JOHN BOY (6) severely checked CAWBOURNE BIGGEN (4), BUSH CAPITAL (10), REDWOOD POSSUM (3) and DAPER MICKIE (2) causing REDWOOD POSSUM (3) to fall and fail to finish the event. Shortly after JOHN BOY (6) checked ROCKY HILL (1). JOHN BOY (6) checked off the heels of FORGOTTEN YEARS (7) on the home turn. FORGOTTEN YEARS (7) raced wide on the home turn. DAPER MICKIE (2) was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. A post race veterinary examination of REDWOOD POSSUM (3) revealed the greyhound had injured the nearside hind leg and connections were issued a 7-Day incapacitation certificate, from the 08.09.09 up to and including the 14.09.09. MAJOT MYSTERY (3) and ELLA FELLA TELLA (8) were both slow to begin. JEM’S BUB (1) raced wide on the first turn causing TWILIGHT LOTTO (2), MAJOR MYSTERY (3) and AROUND A BUCK (7) to all check, hampering POISON WINE (5) which was trailing. TWILIGHT LOTTO (2) and ELLA FELLA TELLA (8) collided entering the home straight. Shortly after the start, TRUE OCTANE (3) checked PRINCESS KATON (2) and BERELLA CHELSEA (1) and in a separate incident, TARRAGON (6) and CAWBOURNE ELVIS (8) collided. Passing the catching pen TRUE OCTANE (3), TARRAGON (6) and CAWBOURNE ELVIS (8) collided causing TRUE OCTANE (3) to fall and fail to finish the event, as a result of this incident PRINCESS KATON (2) and WAGTAIL MAL (5) were both checked. VIDAR IZMAR (4) the winner of the event, was locked away for a urine sample to be obtained under the Canberra Greyhound Racing random ballot policy. Connections of CAWBOURNE ELVIS (8) were interviewed regarding the greyhound’s actions in the home straight, when the greyhound turned its head inwardly towards ARIEK MIRAGE (7). After making observations and viewing the race footage, connections agreed that CAWBOURNE ELVIS (8) had marred ARIEK MIRAGE (7). As it was the greyhound’s first offence, CAWBOURNE ELVIS (8) was stood down, under Rule GAR 69 (2) (a) for marring, and is ineligible to compete at Canberra for 28 days. The greyhound must also complete one satisfactory trial with three others before returning to licensed race meetings. TRUE OCTANE (3) was euthanized after the event. CAWBOURNE HAILS (4) checked JESSIE’S TAIL (5) shortly after the start. BUCKLE BUNNY (3) and JESSIE’S TAIL (5) collided on the first turn causing JESSIE’S TAIL (5) to race wide and severely check PALE FACE ARIEK (8). BUCKLE BUNNY (3) checked off the heels of VICTOR LANE (6) passing the catching pen. QUESTY (2) hampered RELEASE (1) in the run to the first turn. Shortly after QUESTY (2) commenced to give ground and finished a distant last. ADMIRAL NED (5) and QUIET OBSERVER (7) collided on the turn into the back straight causing both greyhounds to lose ground as a result RELEASE (1) was checked. Mr Sheather the trainer of the winner of the event COMMANDER BOND (6) was interviewed regarding the improved performance of the greyhound. Mr Sheather explained that the COMMANDER BOND (6) was suited by the outside box as the greyhound races wide. He also stated that at its previous two starts the greyhound had suffered interference causing it to finish rearward. Mr Sheather’s comments were noted and COMMANDER BOND (6) was locked away for a urine sample to be taken later in the evening. CHOC MAGIC (1) and WILD SAFLISA (10) were both slow to begin. CHOC MAGIC (1), TWO FOR YOU (5), DEKAY’S DYNASTY (7) and WILD SAFLISA (10) all checked to varying degrees on the first turn. KURRAWA GIRL (6) hampered BLAZING MORGO (4) on the home turn. BLAZING MORGO (4) was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. The Owner/Trainer of BLAZING MORGO (4) was interviewed regarding the greyhound turning its head inwardly just prior to the winning post towards HIGHLAND BREEZE (9). After taking observations and viewing the race footage it was inconclusive if BLAZING MORGO (4) had made any contact with that greyhound. BLAZING MORGO (4) was given the benefit of the doubt with regards to marring; connections were advised that stewards will continue to monitor the greyhound’s performances for the immediate future. THUNDEREEN (3) was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. PLAYBOY BARBIE (6) and DISTRIBUTE (7) were both slow to begin and then collided shortly after the start. YAKERMANIS (8) checked CAWBOURNE BULLET (4) passing the catching pen. SWEET RAYAH (2) checked off the heels of PROBLEM BEAN (1) on the turn into the back straight. CAWBOURNE BULLET (4) was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. Mr Keith Jones, the owner/trainer of the winner ARIEK RUTH (3) was questioned regarding the improved performance of the greyhound. Mr Jones could offer no real explanation for the improved performance except that ARIEK RUTH’S only other win had come when the greyhound jumped to the lead, as it did in tonight’s event. Mr Jones’s comments were noted and the greyhound was locked away for a urine sample to be taken later in the evening.
